Dr. Sweta Chakraborty Breaks Down Isolation During the Pandemic

Dr. Sweta Chakraborty is a risk and behavioral scientist. She has often appeared on major international news media outlets, including CNN and MSNBC, to speak on a range of topics.

Dr. Chakraborty is not only US President for We Don’t Have Time, the world’s largest review platform for climate solutions, she is also a partner at Pioneer Public Affairs and the founder and principle of Adapt to Thrive.

Appearing as a guest on “The Shelly Bell Show,” Dr. Chakraborty talked in-depth about isolation during the pandemic and being separated from the outside world can feel so destabilizing.

“I would say that there’s strength in numbers. We are creatures that haven’t evolved that much since our ancestors were looking to survive and there was survival in numbers,” Dr. Sweta Chakraborty tells Omi and Takia.

“We needed that secondary person to be able to stay up at night while we were sleeping, to make sure we didn’t get eaten by like a tiger. Right? So we are intrinsically wired to want to be part of a team or part of a group. So being by ourselves is not really natural. It’s not aligned to our actual biological systems, which is why when we’re by ourselves, we’re not as productive in that sense.”

Dr. Chakraborty adds, “We’re probably going to wake up more in the middle of the night, these micro awakenings that happen. Because again, we have that innate wiring to sure that we are safe at night. And even though we’re safe now in modern society, we haven’t really evolved past the reality of what our ancestors faced millennia ago.”

Celebrity Doula, Latham Thomas, is the founder of Mama Glow — global maternity education org offering doula services and fertility resources to expectant and new mamas.

Inspired by the pregnancy and birth of her son, Thomas decided to create Mama Glow to help other mothers-to-be “feel their most radiant and powerful.”

Named one of Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul 100, Thomas’ organization offers a globally recognized doula immersion program (where they train people to become doulas), a virtual Doula Homeschool program and more.

Shelly Omilâdé Bell (Omi) interviewed Thomas on a recent episode of “The Shelly Bell Show” on Sirius XM Urban View.

In one part of the show, Thomas opened up about intuitive business.

“Intuition is incredible. It is an intelligence and it’s not supported in spaces like this. So when we think about business. Business development. Personal growth….personal growth seems like its own area. And self-help,” she shared.

“But then you think about business and business development and entrepreneurship and you look at what people are teaching people there, and what the resources are there…people are not asking you to prime yourself in ways that help you really listen to the signals that are happening within to listen to your body. To listen to the wisdom that comes through your body, to look at the signs that show up in your life and what and how you respond to that energy that shows up like this is actually, I would say subverted.”

Latham believes emotions and business go hand in hand.

“As a practice you’re told to actually move without feeling and to not connect with sensation because it could lead you to being sensitive and emotional or irrational,” she continues. “I mean, we look at our stock markets, they’re moved by emotions, right? Everything is emotion. It’s emotional. Everything is emotion. So you have to connect with that. And I believe the intuition is an intelligence that’s integral to the growth of the business.”

Bestselling Author, Keisha Blair, Talks ‘Holistic Wealth’ on ‘The Shelly Bell Show’

Bestselling Author, Keisha Blair, Talks ‘Holistic Wealth’ on ‘The Shelly Bell Show’

In September, Shelly Omilâdé Bell (Omi) launched “The Shelly Bell Show” on Sirius XM Urban View.

Five months later, the show is going from strength to strength, and Omi and co-host Tanika Ross opened the floodgates and invited guests to the show.

On Sunday (March 6), “Holistic Wealth” author Keisha Blair appeared as a guest on the show. Blair, a trained economist who began her career working on economic development projects sponsored by the World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank, is also the founder of the Institute on Holistic Wealth.

In a candid interview, Blair shares that a tragic event made her shift gears when it came to her career.

“My husband died when I was 31. This was just eight weeks after I gave birth to my second child. And I was, you know, like many other women on a corporate track, climbing a cooperate ladder doing my economist thing,” she explained. “I realized [that] the way we were defining wealth, the way we were defining or self-worth by our net worth and the way the traditional economists were defining that, needed to be overhauled.

“There’s a new generation of women like myself, like you businesswomen who realize that our mental health or emotional health or spiritual health or relationships and what we have with each other is so critical to our success.”

Blair stressed the importance of community when it comes to cultivating holistic wealth.

“That femininity we have to tap into—our spirituality or mental and emotional health and just our relationships with each other as women entrepreneurs. We support each other and we also need that support group. So that’s all a part of holistic wealth.”
